Such a Deal when You Love Your Job

Life pre-Montana was ruled by the clock. Now it’s ruled by the sun. I’ve learned that horses don’t wear watches, and they don’t stick to fixed timetables. The system they live by is simple: when it’s light you wake up, when it’s dark you go to sleep. In between you eat as much as you possibly can. Their lifestyle, in turn, determines ours, because it would probably be easier to knock the earth off its axis than convince a flock of sheep in July that it’s time to go to bed at six o’clock. I spend my days more of the passage of time aware of lightness/darkness. I’ve long ago stopped wearing a watch.

So here i was this morning on the road less travelled doing a “rating” ride on Picken Walk, trot, canter exactly at the pace I wanted .. When we trot out shee is all, “OK, we’re cool, baby…this is fun and I am soooo relaxed and listening to you…”. When we move to canter, we’re back at the Kentucky Derby. Sometimes the tune changes dramatically. “WHATHE*??!?!?!?! I am going to hollow out my back, raise my head to the roof, grab that bit and run!!!! ” I’m off to Bangkok ” as Patrick and I dubbed. Today she was right on point…. We visited up at Fortier’s said a “howdy do’” and chatted with Randy; waiting patiently.. She did a beautiful trot home as well even with a stop to fix a broken gate. Whilst neighbor was dismantling said gate, I was musing about how Picken loves to cover country, while Alle’s just born for the show ring.

And it got me to thinking does the horse LOVE their job? Imagine how much better you are when you love what you do. Heart and passion count tremendously for success often beating out discipline and practice. These horses each love their job.

Do you love your job? Find something that you LOVE to do, put some work into it and the effects you’ll have can be pretty amazing.

I know I do… Part of that is i’m always thinking, thinking of ways to be of service in a way that makes the life easier, more fun and lighter. We cater to folks looking for a quiet, scenic, non-touristy spot from which to enjoy our mountain environment That means :

  • Energy-efficient lighting, and heating
  • Water-efficient laundry
  • Low flow shower heads
  • We recycle
  • We provide guests the opportunity to recycle
  • Fragrance free cleaning products
  • No scented candles or potpourri
  • Unscented hand soap in rooms or available
  • All-natural cleaning products
  • Biodegradable cleaning and laundry products
  • smoke-free rooms
  • We offer organic food choices, vegetarian, kosher, etc
  • We offer local food choices - folks just love Montana bacon and the gooseberry jam we serve

Ah nothing like the taste of wilderness. Montana is our home and our door is open year round. - .. a labour of love

Love is beautiful, but it is also terrible–terrible in its determination to allow nothing blemished or unworthy to remain in the beloved.”

I think if more people in this world loved their jobs, there would be a lot more peace than the mess we live in. It’s such a simple thing but evidently so hard to achieve.

Finding a job you love requires the willingness to believe that you deserve to have a job you love. I’ve heard so many people say “It’s just a job”. I always reply, “Yes, but why should you spend so much of your life doing something about which you don’t care?” No one has ever given me a satisfactory answer for that question.

Sigh! Boy would I love some of that open air and sky right now with no stressers for a few days…

I’m dealing with nursing homes today to get my mom admitted and definitely don’t love it! But God will use even this to shape and mold me.

Anyway, your post was like Calgon for my soul - at least for a few moments of soothing comfort as I let my imagination go. Thanks sooooo much for posting!
